Penclawdd,   15 November 1980
Newport never got into this game and despite having the gale and downpour at their backs in the second half, they unaccountably chose to run the ball, failing to learn from the way Penclawdd had approached the first half so succesfully. Penclawdd put boot to ball with great effect, but in contrast Newport attempted a game better suited to a sunny day. The rain had been coming down all week, and the rain during the game came down in torrents. Newport won enough possession, particularly through David Waters at the line-out, but it was Penclawdd who were generally first to the breakdown, and they deserved their win. It was a black day for Newport, no more so then when Keith James had his clearance kick charged down on his own line for Kevin Dallimore to pounce.
