This match was played at the Llanwern Steel works ground due to a clash of fixtures with the regional Dragons side and Beddau RFC not agreeing to alternative dates. Division One side Beddau were far from outclassed but the Black and Ambers comfortably progressed into the next round of the Konica Minolta Cup. Newport had a flying start with a Sam Waldron try and Dan Griffiths conversion and penalty for a 10pt lead in as many minutes but they then stuttered. Beddau hit back through a Steve Robinson penalty as Newport struggled. Two penalties from Dan Griffiths kept Newport ahead and a late try from captain Rhys Shorney sealed the win.
