Clayton Thomas (Bryncoch)

Newport's lock Gareth Taylor was sent off after 59 minutes as they struggled to win at first division Llanharan. Taylor, sin-binned in the first half, was given his marching orders by Clayton Thomas, after touch judge Lynn Davies pointed out that he kneed an opponent who was on the ground after he had been legitimately tackled. Llanharan were ahead 7-3 for just four minutes before Newport were awarded a penalty try when Jason Critchley was tackled without the ball in the home 22. Fullback Greth King added Newport's second try as they took a 17-13 interval lead.

With Connor and Jervis trading penalties, mostly in the home kicker?s favour, and Newport down to 14 men a major surprise was on the cards at 20-19 but in the 75th minute Llanharan lost the ball in midfield and Matthew Watkins pounced to send Matt Cardey away for the winning score.
