![]() Newport who had not won at St Helens since 1976 and on their last seven visits conceded 297 pts leaked another 60 on this visit, although they showed a lot of spirit in defeat. Newport were blown away by a vastly superior Swansea outfit, who led 38-3 twelve minutes into the second half. With three minutes to go Newport had reduced the arrears to only ten points due to complacency, replacements and a woeful performance from Swansea?s outside half Arwel Thomas, who gave away six interceptions, two of which led to tries for centres Kyle Nichols and Matthew Watkins. Further tries from Gareth King, two from Kyle Nichols reduced the Swansea lead, but late tries by Rhodri Jones and Richard Rees put a more accurate reflection on the scoreline.
