Centre Richard Payne was the hat-trick hero as Newport eased their way into the last 32 and booked a round four trip to Pontycymmer. Ultimately, it was Newport?s superior fitness, quality forwards and attacking flair of their backs that was the difference between the two sides. Steve Ireland scored a brace for Newport with Daniel Griffiths, Marc Popham, Kieran Crawford and Neil Edwards also going over with Griffiths converting four of the nine.
