The Times of Monday 2nd January 1905 reported the game briefly:-
"LONDON WELSH v. NEWPORT"
"Newport beat the London Welsh at Queen's Club, West Kensington, on Saturday, by four tries to a dropped goal. The day and ground were alike suitable for a good exposition of the game. The match, however, although interesting, did not produce play of a high class. Both sides were below full strength, and the superior physique of the visitors in the scrummage gave them an advantage all through. The tackling, however, of the London Welsh backs was very sure, and prevented a larger score from being obtained against them."
