"NOTES AND COMMENTS"

"By THE EDITOR"

"Welcome to Newport - our near neighbours and age old friends. They come to challenge us and attempt to take our unbeaten and ground records. Their visit promises to produce a really top-rate open match."

"Throughout this season Newport, like Cardiff, have played grand open rugby which has been a pleasure to watch. In ten matches they have a record of eight wins and two defeats, with a satisfactory total of 130 points for."

"Well done, Newport! Hedly Rowland with his cheerful personality has inspired a spirit of gay adventure in his men. Cardiff will do likewise this afternoon and spectators should not be disappointed."

"Les Williams is back in the Cardiff XV as one of the heroes of last Saturday's good win over Penarth by II points to 3. We welcome to the Arms Park today E. L. Bevan, who returns to the Cardiff side for the first time since 1939-40. Recently demobilised from the Army he is now a member of the Newport Police Force. He played for Newport at the start of the season but has now transferred his affections to Cardiff."
