From the match programme:-

"NOTE"

"Continuing the run of attractive home fixtures with three English clubs as visitors on successive Saturdays, and culminating in the third Cardiff meeting on March 4th, Newport entertain Bath on the Athletic Grounds this afternoon."

"Bath have been singularly unfortunate in having weather conditions interfere with two of their home games with Newport in the post-war series. In March, 1947, frost caused the cancellation of the fixture, while in the present  season the Bath ground was flooded and Newport were prevented from making the trip on February 4th. As a parallel to such misfortune Newport have, in recent years, twice had to abandon their home game with the Harlequins, who incidentally, play here on March 18th."

"The selected Newport side for to-day's game is a strong one, and shows only one change from the team which displayed such excellent form in defeating Leicester last Saturday - Ken Spray returning to the three-quarters to partner Bryn Williams at centre. Newport's recent successes, built up on enterprising and attractive play, are once again providing great pleasure to our Supporters."

"The special committee set up under llic International Board, with equal representation of the four countries, have completed their task and announced the British team to tour Australia and New Zealand this summer. Theirs has been a difficult and arduous job, but from the lists of available players for the trip a party has been selected which should do credit to Britain. The success of Wales in the International Tournament this season has been rightly honoured, and the inclusion of 13 Welshmen in the party of 30 causes great satisfaction. This fact should please, too, our friends In Australia and New Zealand, whose teams touring in this country appreciate and testify to the strength of Rugby in Wales."

"And finally, all our Supporters will wish to extend congratulations to the Newport trio who have so thoroughly earned inclusion in the British side. We shall see quite a lot of them yet before they sail on April 1st, of course, but on their selection it is an opportunity to wish Ken Jones, "Bob" Evans and Malcolm Thomas a most pleasant trip, really good Rugby and personal success wherever they play."
