From the match programme:-
"For their second of five consecutive home games, Newport entertain the Wasps at Rodney Parade to-day. It looked at one time as if this would be a meeting between two unbeaten sides, but the Wasps, after a very hard struggle, just surrendered their record to Cardiff last Saturday. It is probably true to state that this London club's rise to top prowess arrived when they beat Newport on the Athletic Grounds in the third match of last season by 11 points to 3, and this performance lessened in surprise as their subsequent achievements through the season were noted. Although Newport won the return game in London later in the season (incidentally by a similar score), on play the impression remained that The Wasps had the better of the season's exchanges. Naturally the Londoners' will be tremendously keen to repeat last year's performance, and there should result to-day a close, most entertaining struggle between two good sides."
"Newport have to make three changes in the team that defeated Leicester. The captain, Ken Jones, has had the misfortune to break a bone in his hand on his first appearance following the British Tour, and will be out of the game for some weeks. Graham Ross takes his place on the wing, and he will be partnered again by R. D. Owen, who stood down last week for Malcolm Thomas, who has now returned to Devonport. One change in the pack brings in young Ian Ford from the United for L. E. T. Jones, who also sustained injury in the Leicester game, and although, fortunately, this has not proved serious, it was considered wiser for him to stand down to-day. L. E. T. Jones has made 53 consecutive appearances for the Newport team - a grand record which may take much research to find a parallel. 'Bob' Evans, of course, captains the side to-day."
"We are able to give early notice that The Four Home Union's New Instructional Film - "Rugby Union Football" will be shown by the Newport Athletic Club on November 15th. Full details, for members interest, will be announced in a subsequent issue."
