From the match programme:-

"The Easter Monday visit of London Welsh to Newport is a popular annual Holiday attraction, and to-day's game at the Athletic Grounds should provide splendid Rugby. Both sides will endeavour to compensate for the unfortunate match at Herne Hill this season when, in thick fog, play had to be abandoned just after a shortened first half."

"Welshmen in London have every reason to appreciate this strong London Welsh organisation, which retains such an invaluable link with their Home Country. Their performances on the field, too, are in keeping with their reputation, and during the post-war series of matches with Newport they can claim three victories - one at Newport - in some very closely contested matches."

"It is difficult in the Easter Monday game, when Teams have to go to Press prior to the Holidays, to publish either side with great accuracy, when injuries and other uncertainties during the Holiday games cause alteration of arrangements, which we feel sure our Supporters will appreciate. As we are able to withhold Programme publication until the morning for the Barbarians' match, we shall be able to publish tomorrow's teams with more accuracy."

"To-night, in the Social Centre, the Easter Rugby Dance for Club Members will be held. Dancing is from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Admission is by Ticket only and Club Members can obtain any still available at the Social Centre following to-day's match."

"On Saturday next we shall be visiting Neath in force, and have been sent an allocation of Tickets for this all-ticket match. A limited number only are available and will be on sale after this game, at the Bowls Pavilion. Remember, you are still following the best team in the country and they will be meeting their stiffest opposition. For those wishing to travel by coach, the return fare is 6/-, leaving the Club 1.0 p.m. sharp."

"For the Gloucester match we have been notified that British Railways are running a Football Special, leaving Newport 1.15 p.m., at a very special reduced fare of 5/9. To enable those people who want to spend the evening in Gloucester, this train will return at 10.30 p.m. - 11.0 p.m. as per Handbill. Further announcements will be made in the Press."

"On Tuesday, after the Barbarians' match we would draw Supporters' attention to the fact that Newport Schoolboys' team will play Aberavon Boys. These boys certainly give full entertainment value, and deserve your every support."

"One of their players, Johnny Hughes (Hatherleigh), who has represented the Town at both codes, has just been selected to represent Wales as full-back. He is a son of D. J. (Jack) Hughes, the old Newport forward, who himself was a Secondary Schools' Cap. Congratulations, Johnny."
