From the match programme:-

"To-day brings us to the "game of the season," and we are delighted to welcome such a famous team as Newport to Beacon Park. They have a most outstanding record for this season, having only lost one game. This record brings to mind the Newport team of 1922-23 which never lost a game for the season. As far back as 1912 they created a  sensation by being the first team to beat the Springboks who afterwards defeated Wales, Scotland, England, Ireland and France. The very earliest history of the Club goes back to 1874 when they started a Club with the intention of playing Soccer, but turned to rugby at the end of the season."

"The Ladies' Entertainment, Committee are organising the following excursions during the close season : Sunday, June 17th, a half-day trip to  Newquay; tickets: 15/6 inclusive. Sunday, July 15th. leaving at 8.0 a.m., to Minehead, Lynton and l.ynmouth; tickets: 27/6 inclusive. Wednesday, August 8th, River Evening Trip to Calstock; tickets: 2/6. Enquiries should he made to Miss P. Hosking."
