From the match programme:-
"NOTES"
"Newport continue their Easter programme with the customary Holiday-Monday meeting with London Welsh, which has proved such an attraction for so many years. The "Exiles" invariably reserve their strongest form for this match, and they have the incentive of a victory to-day giving them the season’s 'double' over Newport. They won the game at Herne Hill in November by a penalty goal to nil. In the Easter match, last season, Newport won a hard game by 11 points to 6."
"Publishing prior to the Holidays, it is difficult to print with certainty the teams fielding in to-day’s match, and we, therefore, apologize in advance for any inaccuracies. This will be remedied in the Barbarians game for which we need not go to press until the morning. In the Newport team it is anticipated, however, that both Roy Burnett and Peter Davies will return to the side. Possibly, Bryn Meredith, only available during the Holidays, will be included in the forwards. although at the time of writing there are doubts as to his fitness."
"Given reasonable weather conditions, there will be a most interesting curtain-raiser to tomorrow’s game with the Barbarians. This will be between Newport Schoolboys and Amman Valley Schoolboys, the kick-off being at 2.15. Both sides are undefeated this season, and arc Semi-Finalists in the Welsh Schools' Dewar Shield Championship."
"Both teams contain Internationals, who will be on view in the Scotland v. Wales game at Newport in a fortnight’s time. During the Barbarians game a collection will be taken in aid of Newport Schools' Rugby."
