From the match programme:-

"Our visitors today are the redoubtable Newport XV. They are known as one of the finest teams in Rugger today. Included in their ranks are such stars as:- K. J ones, R. Burnett, M. Thomas and W. Williams. Games between our clubs have been real 'classics,' and we hope today's game will prove no exception."

"To the " Bridge " we say: our form of recent games has been really grand. I would like to mention the form of two of the forwards: D. Greenslade and D. Cheshire; this pair have been playing real tear-away rugger in recent games, and the latter, when near the line, is virtually unstoppable. These boys should definitely gain county and possibly Welsh honours next season."
