"Club News"
"TO-NIGHT we close down our home games this season with a visit once again from the Newport Club. They are always very welcome visitors to the County Ground. They play the open game that we like to see in Exeter and we are delighted to see them once again."
"This season has been a very trying and strenuous one for the Club, and in some ways a very unlucky one. We started by losing our Skipper, Jack Harrison, very early on and then Brian Homer was out of the side through injury for weeks and last Saturday the old injury recurred and he is now out for the remainder of the season. Mike Keogh has left us and Henry Drew broke his collar bone in the Leicester game at Easter. I think everybody will agree this greatly upset the side and their loss has affected the play of the team as a whole."
"But a very bright feature of the season has been the success of the A" Team who have won 25 games out of 33, and have only been beaten once since January. I think there is something in this side that may be useful to the Chiefs next season."
"ANNUAL DINNER, 6th MAY, 1955."
"The Hon. Secretary will be in his office at the end of this game to see Members re the tickets for the Dinner at the Imperial Hotel. Would you please let him know if you intend to come along as numbers are limited."
"The Committee wish to extend to all our patrons their thanks for the continued support and help during the season, to the Supporters' Club for their interest and sale of programmes, and last, but no means least, to the Ladies of the Supporters' Club who have all through the season supplied teas, etc., to our visitors and the home players. Their work has been really outstanding."
"I would like to add a personal note to thank all those good people who have been so kind to me, assisted me in various ways throughout the season, my first as Hon. Secretary of the Club, and to the Members of the Committee who have supported me since I took over the task. Many, many thanks and cheerio until September next."
