From the match programme:-
"Our visitors, who emerge from the Severn Tunnel to-day, will undoubtedly provide us with one of the hardest games of the season. In September, Bristol succeeded at Newport by 14 points to 13, our hosts being handicapped for part of the game by the absence of an injured player. The Usksiders have won 11 of their 15 games, their victories including Cardiff (twice) and heavy defeats of Gloucester and Leicester. Absentees from Bristol’s side to-day include Derek Neate and David Hazell who arc at Birkenhead for the England Trial. We hope they will graduate to the later Trials accompanied perhaps by one or two of their club colleagues."
"The Bristol Junior Rugby Combination invite you to contribute to their collection to-day. The officials are doing valuable work in bringing on the Bristol players of the future, and we are confident our followers will support this appeal in their usual generous manner."
"On Friday, 19th December, Bristol Old Players are visiting Alveston to play Tom Brown’s side at skittles. Transport will be provided. Meet at the Memorial Ground at 7 p.m. Enquiries to Harold Evans, 8 Priory Avenue, Wcstbury-on-Trym."
"Our open date on Saturday, 14th February, will be filled by a home match with St. Luke’s College, Exeter. The St. Luke’s fixture on Wednesday, 15th April being scratched."
