"NOTES."
"We welcome the "Exiles" for our usual Easter Monday game. They undertake a strenuous programme over this holiday weekend. On Saturday they played Aberavon and tomorrow play at Pontypool. They run several teams in London so when they undertake this tour they have no difficulty in bringing a strong party down with them. Todate they have had a fairly successful season having won two-thirds of their games. In the party are two Newport fellows, Lucas and Ryan. The latter made twenty appearances for Newport last season and played this season for us against Bridgend. Forward, Gwyn Lewis is the Club Captain and he is also a former Newport player. Another Newport player who turned out regularly for them earlier in the season was Leighton Jenkins who later concentrated on Services football. Brian Richards (Swansea and Wales), has been in mercurial form at outside-half. Robin Davies the Welsh blindside wing-forward is included in the Barbarians party although he probably will be available if required. Prosser-Harries, a light blue and formerly of Swansea is in the front rank of present Welsh full-backs. In the last two encounters 53pts. have been scored which speaks for itself on the type of rugger played."
"Last Easter Monday was a drawn game, llpts. each and in November last we won a thrilling game up in town by 16pts. to 15pts."
"Tomorrow we play the Barbarians and their party has the usual flavour of seasoned internationals and names on the fringe of higher honours. Five of the party are going with the British Lions to South Africa. They are John Willcox, Richard Sharp, W. R. Hunter, Sid Millar, and M. Campbell-Lamerton."
"The Baa-Baas played at Fenarth on Good Friday, Cardiff last Saturday and today are at St. Helens."
"Before the big game tomorrow, Newport Schoolboys will be playing a game as a curtain raiser, and they will be kicking-off at 2.15 p.m. A collection will be made for the Schoolboys' funds."
