"WELCOME TO THE PARADE"
"This afternoon we extend a very warm Rodney Parade welcome to our Centenary celebrating visitors, London Welsh. The Exiles, captained by the ever-popular "Billy Wizz' Clive Rees, have had an inconsistent season, mainly due to injuries to key players, but during recent weeks have achieved victories over Bath, Rosslyn Park and Newbridge. Prior to Christmas the Black and Ambers visited Old Deer Park and returned with a 15-all draw following a game that will be remembered not for the quality of rugby produced but to the fact that three players were sent from the field of play."
"When able to field a full side, London Welsh have speed and flair behind the scrum from such talented players as the Captain, Andy Martin, Andrew Yeandle, Guy Leleu, New Zealander Dan Fauhy, Colyn Price and Mark Douglas, while up front Byron Light, John Collins, Malcolm Hall, Roger Ford, Brian Morgan, Daniel Keating and Tim Waldron help provide the power."
"Everyone at Rodney Parade offers their heartiest congratulations to 'The Exiles" on joining the "Centenary Club" and are confident that the Club will continue to provide rugby of the highest quality in London and seek to reproduce the halcyon days of the 1970s when their success and brand of rugby delighted rugby followers everywhere."
"Happy birthday London Welsh - may the remainder of your Centenary Year be successful, especially your Centenary Dinner to be held at the Grosvenor House in the presence of the Prince and Princess of Wales on Wednesday evening."
"PLAYERS' REUNION"
"London Welsh have decided to end their Centenary Celebrations with a Reunion for former players before their game with the President's XV on 12th April. Proceedings will commence with coffee at 10.30 a.m., followed by buffet lunch at noon and tea after the game. Tickets £10 (£18 for player and wife/female guest) include ground entry and also a bottle of wine."
"Newport have had a close relationship with London Welsh during the last century, with many players playing for both Clubs, so if anyone would like to take part in the Reunion, why not contact Stuart Davies (01-979-8074)."
"CLUB NOTES"
"This afternoon the Chairman, Committee and Players are delighted that the newly-formed Former Black and Amber Players Association are holding a Reunion in the Brecon Lounge. Let's hope it is well attended and that as well as enjoying today's game versus London Welsh they will be busy making arrangements to travel to Cardiff on Saturday, 26th April, to support "MJW" and the current Black and Amber team in their quest for "Cup Glory"."
