"COACH'S CORNER"
"Newport built on recent improvements with a hard-fought 14-10 triumph at Cross Keys last weekend but still sit at the lower end of of the table. With six league games left this season, and three at home, how will the team approach the remaining games of the season?"
"The team are very positive. We had to make some drastic changes to the side for our game with Ebbw Vale but the players who have come in have been superb and we'll do what we can to keep them for the rest of the season, in place of our injuries picked up so far. The home games are fundamental but we're positive that we can perform both at home and away to secure a good league place."
"Are there any players in particular who have impressed in recent games?"
"There are a few boys who certainly deserve a mention. Adam Frampton has had two good games, Paul Williams has been great on returning from injury and live-wire Andrew Quick and Tom Organ are both proving great prospects for the club."
"Newport have been drawn away from home to Glamorgan Wanderers in the last eight of the Konica Minolta Cup to be played on the weekend of April 5th. A win at home this weekend would certainly boost the players ahead of the away Cup game. Did this influence the preparation for today's clash?"
"Definitely, we've trained with that in mind this week. A home win will give us the edge psychologically when travelling to the Memorial Ground next weekend. If we manage to get the upper hand from a victory today, they'll be forced to raise their game and could make mistakes under pressure."
"The Wanderers lost by ten points to Pontypridd last weekend away from home, what are you expecting from the travelling team?"
"A tough test - They'll want to play ruyby here today and no doubt will bring tempo and intent to the game. I'm expecting that they'll be lively with ball in hand and present us will a challenge on the field."
