"SUPPORTERS NEWS"
"Good Morning and on behalf of Newport Rugby Supporters Club welcome to Rodney Parade for today's match against Llandovery RFC. We also extend a warm welcome to the supporters, players and management of today's visitors."
"I don't think there has been a time recently that these programme notes have been started with "Good Morning" - "Good Afternoon" and "Good Evening" on a regular basis but rarely the pre-noon salutation we have today. The match kicks off this morning at 11 .30am to avoid a clash with the Wales v Australia match at 2.30pm - why not stay on and watch that game on the big screen in the clubhouse this afternoon?"
"Last Saturday proved a tough afternoon for Newport. An unprecedented three games lost at home, certainly in recent times, was hard enough but the manner of their defeat to the league leaders was a bitter pill to swallow. Referee Leighton Hodges interpretation of the rules had players, coaches and supporters alike searching for the rule book. Two players were sent off at the same time for two offences in a single phase of play, with most of the crowd certainly believing the referee got this wrong and should have stopped the game and dealt with the first offence."
"The loss of Dai Pattison and Rhys Jenkins proved too difficult for Newport to cope with against quality opposition and they went from 18-6 up to 18-18 by the time both returned. Tries from Gareth Wyatt, his 100th for Ponty, and Edward Siggery in seven minutes whilst Newport we down to 13 players evened up the game."
"Newport continued to battle valiantly but a further try from replacement outside half Simon Humberstone on 75 minutes saw Ponty leave with the spoils, although Newport did score a bonus point for finishing within seven points."
"Today's visitors hove won just once this season, against basement side Glamorgan Wanderers at Church Bank at the end of September. Apart from a draw against Pontypool two weeks ago, they have lost all their other games this season and are currently second from bottom in the league. Last season, Newport won both fixtures between the teams, 27-18 at Rodney Parade and 37-27 at Church Bank."
"NEW YEARS EVE PARTY"
"The popular New Years Eve party in the clubhouse at Rodney Parade will again take place this year with live entertainment from the One Night Only band to see out the final moments of 2010 and a disco to keep the party going into the early hours of 2011. To add to the party atmosphere, the tables will be decorated and include balloons, streamers and party novelties to make the evening go with a bang. Tickets are on sale NOW and available from the Supporters' Club table or by contacting Steve Clarke on 07976 062471. Cost is just £10, including a free first drink to the value of £3."
