A match to celebrate Machen RFC centenary. Whilst it was billed as a Newport Select XV effectively the first team turned up on the day! Apparently Laurie Daniels and Keth James had good games but unfortunately the Machen full back, Roy Sullivan, broke his jaw in a tackle with Del Haines. Machen players Steve Phillips and Roy Cridland later went on to play for Newport.
