A special game to raise funds for the Newport Athletic Club Re-Building Appeal Fund.
From the match programme:-
"NOTES."
"Although Bridgend are not regular visitors to Rodney Parade we do know of their prowess in senior Welsh rugby circles. Tonight's game is unofficial and we are indebted to Bridgend for their willingness to participate in this floodlit game to raise money towards our Building Appeal Fund. The result will not be included in the records but nevertheless we shall be keen to reverse the defeat inflicted on us on January 2nd at the Brewery Field, which is listed among our five defeats this season."
"Ken Richards their outside-half, once of Cardiff, has made a name for himself as an expert kicker of all types of goals, and he appears with deadly monotony every week in their scoring list. He is also a fine attacking player and his shrewd generalship in the middle provide ample opportunities for his colleagues."
"Arwyn Owen who has played for Newport, but mostly with the United is now a regular member of their back division, so playing on this ground will not be strange to him."
"The Newport side shows three changes from last Saturday, G. Britton coming in for the injured R. Wills, G. Lovell for W. Watkins who is not available, and Geoff Whitson, now recovered from his dose of 'flu taking over from B. Danaher."
"Congratulations to Norman Morgan on reaching his 100 pts. In indoor sports jargon he has scored a "ton" or more in five consecutive seasons so he now holds a "nap" hand."
"The "carrot" of four wins in a season over Cardiff is still dangling tantalizingly before our noses, but not this season now, perhaps next year."
"The Watsonians, Royal Navy and Aberavon made bold attacks on our ground record so the incentive to capture it will be with all visitors to this ground."
"SUPPORTERS' NOTES."
"Once more Newport failed to win in the "Arms Park" mud, and so the chance of four wins in one season has again eluded us. On the play, which was all in favour of Newport in the first half, but all Cardiff after the interval, a draw was a fair result, but a big disappointment for the crowd of supporters who were in attendance."
"This evening's match, for which we welcome Bridgend, should prove as interesting as we have come to expect floodlit games to be, and the players can open up without any of the tense feeling which prevailed last Saturday."
"We are still open for bookings for the Coach-trip to the Wasps game on March 12th. Details are leave N.A.C. 7 a.m. Saturday, lunch en route, stay at the "Royal Hotel" overnight, returning after lunch on Sunday. Approximate cost £3/15/0."
