From the match programme:-
"CHAIRMANS WELCOME"
"Today we welcome the players and supporters of Newport RFC to Church Bank and they will surely arrive in high spirits following their dramatic 25 -28 final play victory at Carmarthen Park last weekend. This win will have come as welcome relief to the coaching staff in reversing a run of three consecutive defeats at the hands of Llanelli 6 - 46, Cardiff 62 - 17 and Gwent neighbours Bedwas 25 - 26, having started the season with an excellent albeit narrow away win at Aberavon 20 - 23."
"Home fans are also joyfully celebrating what is our best ever start to a season with a full house of four successive bonus point victories against Cardiff, Neath, Bridgend and Swansea to leave the Drovers sitting proudly at the top of the Principality Premiership Table with maximum points. Results for both teams so far therefore suggest another high scoring encounter and with both the Rodney Parade and Church Bank surfaces highly conducive to running rugby let us hope that the weather once again smiles on today’s game as it has done on each Saturday so far this season, in stark contrast to the wettest summer on record we have just experienced!"
"Last weeks ‘Super Saturday’ saw Llandovery Youth defeat Villicrs of Limerick 20 - 3, the Athletic trounce Narberth 63-3 and the 1st team taking the spoils 25 - 20 against the All Whites of Swansea. Three out of three meant that it was fantastic to see the Club so full after the game and also extremely heartening to our Treasurer! Well done to the players and coaches of all three senior teams!"
"Indeed the Club is enjoying unparalleled success at the moment and the entertaining style of rugby being played at all levels is certainly enticing more and more supporters through the turnstiles. Long may it continue! Daliwch ati i chwarae’r rygbi arbennig yma ar pob cyfle i deni rhagor o cefnogwyr i Banc Yr Eglwys!"
"BBC Scrum V continues to show weekly highlights of all Welsh Premiership rugby games - which is a huge improvement on previous seasons - however they have yet to ratchet up coverage to the same levels as does ‘Sgorio’ do so well for Welsh Premiership football. Still it is a start and the WRU are to be commended for the move which can do nothing but increase the profile of this ever improving league."
"Croeso cynnes i ein dyfarnwr heddiw ac hefyd i ei ddau llinanwr. Gobeithio fyddwch yn mwynhau’r diwrnod! This season’s new ballboys who all play for our Junior Drovers are, Lloyd Jones (under ll’s), Osian Nicholas (under 12’s) and Rhodri Davies, Dafydd Land and Dylan Jones (under 13’s), whilst today’s mascot is Dafydd Land."
"May I take the opportunity to thank the rugby management team and players who collectively are today’s Match Sponsors! Not that it is needed but this should hopefully add that extra incentive to go all out for a win and continue the current winning run. Diolch yn fawr iawn i chi a phob lwc heddi!"
"Thanks also to our matchball sponsor former player and successful 2nd team captain of ycster year Derek Jones of Castle Garage."
"Er Gwaethaf pawb a Phoeth Ni Yma o Hyd!"
