The Birmingham Daily Post reported this game on 14th December 1891 as:-
"NEWPORT V. MOSELEY. - Played at Newport in boisterous weather, before 3,000 spectators. In the first half play was fast, and Newcombe scored for Newport, England converting. Half-time score - Newport 1 goal, Moseley nil. The second half was all in favour of Newport. Play was confined to the Moseley territory. Bert, Gould, and Phillips scored for the homesters, who also compelled Moseley to touch down five times. Final score - Newport 1 goal, 2 tries, Moseley 0."
