Born Jan 1945 (and twin John). 5?7 & 11st 10. Joined Newport in 1961/2 (from Newport Youth) - same season as David Watkins. S Mon Youth (fullback). Debut at Gloucs March 26th 1965 Captained Utd for number of seasons. In 1976 gained regular 1st team place and played in 1977 winning Cup Final team at age 32 (proudest moment). Played vs 1973 NZ (L15-20) and 1976 Australia (L7-13). Played all positions behind scrum and was rep flanker at Rosslyn Park Nov 10th 1979. Son Philip played for Pill Harriers but made 1 app for Newport. Graham (younger brother managed Newport AFC (County). Sister married Andy White who played for Newport Co. Uncle George (also a carpenter) played 1945/6-1946/7 (26 apps) and later was steward at club. David (and John) once played trial for Cross Keys. Played cricket for Whiteheads. Carpenter - built main bar at RP 1964/5-1979/80: 157 apps / 41t.
