Educated Newbridge Comprehensive School. Began his playing career at Crumlin and Pontypool. Made his first class debut September 1979 for Newbridge RFC whom he captained in 1983-84 and 1984-85. Joined Newport RFC in 1985-86 making his debut at Rodney Parade on 4th September 1985 against Penarth (Won 34 v 0). Set the then Newport record of 368 points in a season in 1986-87. Kicked 12 conversions vs Bonanova, Spain 1986 (Won 0 v 90). Went to London Welsh in September 1987. Returned to Newbridge - won 3 Welsh Caps in 1989 (1 as replacement - the only Newbridge back to win a cap). Also captained Newbridge 1989-90.
Rejoined Newport 1989-90 to 1991-92. By then had scored 598pts (+ 150 on tour matches of Spain (2) and Cyprus). Beat Norman Morgan's club record of 951 (1955-62) when he scored 16 pts at Nottingham on 28th December 1991.
Appointed player-coach 1991-92. Joined Sale as player-coach in August 1992. Player-coach Bedford 1996-8. Also coached Gloucester, Saracens and Harlequins.
Appointed head coach at Rodney Parade to Newport Gwent Dragons in 2005.
