Wales Schools U18 captain 1982/3. West Mon School, Pontpool. Joined Pontypool in 1983/4 and played 7 seasons winning Wales B cap 1986. Joined Newport 1990/1 and played for Wales in 1990/1 (2 caps vs E,S). Also played for Wales Schools U18, Wales B, Combined Services, British Police, Monmouthshire, Crawshays 7?s, Millau (France) and Pontypool. Also played rugby in NZ. Joined from Pontypool in 1990. 144 apps / 145 pts. Left Newport in July 1996 after 6 seasons. Played fullback in all 4 matches on Canada tour May 1995 scoring 5t/ 5c /1p = 38pts. Son Brian played for St Lukes, Taunton and Somerset

Later worked for 12 years with the Welsh Rugby Union as an analyst with Graham Henry, Mike Ruddock and others which were the subject of an acclaimed book "Seeing Red" 2008 co-written with Nick Bishop and published by Mainstream Publishing.
