Born Blaenavon 2 Oct 1943. Joined Newport RFC from Blaenavon and made debut Oct 26th vs Wasps (W11-0). His second game was against New Zealand on 30th Oct 1963 replacing injured international Brian Cresswell. Played 300th game at Bristol Sept 1971). In 1972/3 he became the 4th Newport RFC player to pass 350 games and in 1973/4 became 2nd Newport player to pass 400 games. He then broke Ian Ford?s club record vs Neath on 19 Apr 1978 at RP (W18-0) playing his 483rd game. Called up to take kicks at goal vs Pontardulais Dec 1975 in Cup when Newport scored 8 tries and all kickers tried had missed! Only representative honour was playing for Monmouthshire but he holds a unique honour of appearing against 3 major touring teams (1963 vs NZ won, 1967 vs Australia drew and 1969 vs SA won) and was presented with a special tie to commemorate this. Newport RFC record : 1963/4-1977/8: 486 apps.
