Educated at Wellington College, Berkshire. Nicknamed "Bun", he made 2 appearances for Newport RFC in 1933-34 and a further 3 games were played in 1935-36. He was a Lieutenant in the Welch Regiment which qualified him to play for Wales winning 4 caps, against England, Scotland and Ireland in 1934, and against England in 1935, scoring three tries in total. Played for Army, Welch Regiment, London Welsh and Barbarians.
