Born 28 Feb 1923,Pontypridd. Went to Cambridge Univ from Monmouth School in 1941 and spent 1yr there before being commissioned as an officer in the Royal Tank Regiment and saw action in Europe. Played for Jim Hawkins 1945/6 side while on Army service. Played under Jack Bale in 1946/7 before going to Cambridge Univ in Oct 1947. After outstanding Varsity match he played 2nd row for Wales vs Australia Dec 1947 at Cardiff. Was dropped but picked for Irish match. Played for Camb Univ vs Newport 1948/9. Teacher at Glenalmond School, Perth in 1949. Played for Edinburgh Wdrs when he first became captain of Wales in Jan 1950 Later moved to Gloucester where he also won caps. 23 caps for Wales 1947-54 - captain 13 times - 12 with Edinburgh Wdrs and 1 with Gloucester - incl Triple Crown in 1950 and 1952. Cambridge Blue.
