Educated Cowbridge Grammar School. Welsh Schools cricketer and discus and javelin champion. Played for Newport RFC 1953-54 to 1956-57. Also played for Maesteg and Wrexham. Initially played hooker at school. Debut vs Barbarians April 1954. Only 30 appearances partly due to college before going north to Halifax RL for whom he played 166 games scoring 1082 pts. Played 6 times for Wales 1955 and 1956. Barbarian.
