Born Newbridge April 21st 1926. Played for Abertillery before joining Newport 1946/7. ? played 1 game 1944/5. Played in winning Monmouthshire side vs 1945 Kiwis at Pontypool Park while with Abertillery. Played 19 times for Newport and won 1 Welsh cap vs England Jan 1947. He was then 20yrs old and the youngest ever Welsh 2nd row. (Since beaten by Neath?s Gareth Llewellyn vs NZ Nov 1989). Went North to St Helens RL. Taken off train on way to Paris in March 1947 as he had (allegedly) been seen speaking to RL officials. Hence only 1 cap.
