Attended Caerleon Training College on leaving school and played for Abercarn. Went to London in September 1929 and played for London Welsh. Returned in 1930 to make his Newport RFC debut playing for 1930-31 to 1932-33. 6 Welsh caps 1931-2 (3t/ 2dg). Played 1 season for London Welsh. Scored 12t in first 7 games.

Joined Leeds Rugby League in 1933 and won Welsh RL cap in December 1933. Played in winning Rugby League Cup Final vs Warrington. Also played for Batley.
