Born 14 Oct 1937 Bedlinog. Sometimes known as ?Powerful Pierre?. Lewis School, Pengam, Sheffield University, UAU. Played once for Abertillery and 5 times for Newbridge before joining Newport in 1960/1 as a 21yr old. Played 330 times for Newport 1960-71 scored 17t in first season and scored 157 tries (Record Holder). Scored hat-tricks vs Royal Navy Jan 1964 and Spartak, CSSR Sept 1966. He beat Ken Jones?s record of 146 tries in 293 games from 1946-58 by scoring his 147th try on April 12th 1969 at Plymouth Albion (W32-6). Set club record with Stuart Watkins in 1967/8 (28/48 tries) beating previous by 3. Played all 51 matches when vice-capt in 1967/8. 4 caps for Wales. Memorable highlights of career were Welsh debut (vs England 1961), being recalled (vs Ireland 1964) after gap of 3 seasons, scoring 27 tries in season (1967/8 from 51 games) and Springbok?s lucky 0-3 win narrowly missing a try.
