Andrew is Welsh speaking from Nelson, Rhymney Valley. He played for Newport Youth and Newport Under21. Gained a cap for Wales at Under 18 level. Subsequently joined Blackwood RFC but after 1 pre-season friendly joined Pontypool RFC. Awarded a Development contract with Newport Gwent Dragons but a shoulder injury halted his progress and Andrew then joined Newport RFC for 2006-07. Made his Newport debut on 9th September 2006 at Ebbw Vale (Won 7 v 12). Captained Newport RFC to runners up in the Premiership in 2008-09. High point was being named Principality Premiership Player of the Year 2009-10.

Made a breakthrough for Newport Gwent Dragons in 2009-10 scoring three tries in his first season.

2013 saw Andrew picked for the Wales 6Nations squad winning a place in the starting line-up against Ireland (Lost 22 v 30) at the Millenium Stadium on 2nd February 2012 and playing well.
