Aberdare born Jon joined Newport Gwent Dragons from Celtic Warriors in 2004-05. He had previously played for Pontypridd. Made his Newport RFC debut at Ebbw Vale on 17th November 2004 when Newport lost 17-15. Joined Cardiff Blues in December 2004 but rejoined NGD.

Joined Sale Sharks 2006-07.

Appointed Newport RFC backs coach 2008/9 (having previously coached Merthyr RFC) and also named in playing squad.
