Former Newcastle Falcons player (having turned out for both Otley and Doncaster Knights RFC) as well as playing in the Guinness Premiership, moved to Newport Gwent Dragons, son of former Scotland lock Alan who won 48 caps 1976-1987.

Made his debut for Newport RFC at Aberavon 25th April 2009 (Won 20 v 34). Left Newport Gwent Dragons for Exeter Chiefs RFC at end of 2008-09 season.
