Pontypridd born Tom attended Hawthorn CS and University of Glamorgan (Sports Management Studies). Played for Beddau Juniors & Youth, Wales Youth U18, FIRA, U19, U21 (Grand Slam 2005), Pontypridd and Cardiff Blues 2007-08.

Joined Newport RFC in 2008-09. Given one year contract by Newport Gwent Dragons 2009-10.
