In fact, he played for Long Melford in the East Anglia league for two seasons, and helped them to enjoy two successful campaigns. When his family returned to Newport, where young Wyatt had been born, he continued to play soccer, and played at centre half for Newport A.F.C. youth team and Albion Rovers.
Attended Queens Comprehensive School, Newport. Shortly afterwards, he went to Pontypool College and it was there that he was persuaded to turn his attention to rugby, especially in view of his height, which made him an ideal candidate for the second row in the college team.
Since then he played rugby for the Welsh youth against the England Colts, Gwent youth and under-21 teams, and was a replacement for the Wales under-21 team against Scotland. From Newport youth he graduated to Newport's first team squad. Went to New Zealand under a sponsored scheme recommended by the Welsh Rugby Union. There he continued his development by playing for Western United of Auckland.
Joined Neath RFC 1994-95. Later joined Llanelli and played for Scarlets.
Won Wales A cap in 1996. Won 38 Wales caps 1998-2003 scoring 2 tries. Played for Munster 2006-07.
Also played for Bourgoin in France.
