Newport Youth, Extras and United. Played for Newport RFC 1958-59 to 1961-62. Debut away to Gloucester 18th April 1959 (Won 0 v 8).
1962 saw Wills take English County honours playing in the County Championship final at Twickenham, for Hampshire. Playing alongside international half backs, English scrum half Steve Smith and Scottish fly half Tremayne Rod, they narrowly lost to Warwickshire. The same year he was selected to play for Captain Crawshay's XV alongside Hayden Mannering and Ian Ford.
Also played for Ebbw Vale RFC for whom he played against the 1967 Australians, Cardiff RFC for whom he played against Wilson Whinneray's touring New Zealand All Blacks and Crawshays XV.
Later an accomplished artist. Much landscape work, but Wills' reputation as a portrait artist is substantial and his work has been chosen regularly for hanging at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters Annual Exhibition and in other leading exhibitions and galleries. His portfolio of commissioned work includes portraits of leading figures, many icons in other walks of life, including Sir Geraint Evans and Viscount Tonypandy, the former Speaker of the House of Commons, the Archbishop of the Church in Wales, Sir Tasker Watkins VC, and His Royal Highness Prince Richard Duke of Gloucester.
