1904-05 under Jehoida Hodges proved to be Newport's worst so far. 8 of the 15 defeats were against non-Welsh sides including a first ever double by Blackheath. Leicester, Barbarians, Watsonians, Plymouth and Devonport Albion (first ever) also achieved victories.
Captain Jehoida Hodges still showed himself to be one of the finest forwards and had claimed everlasting glory when in Wales vs England match at Swansea in 1903 he came out of the scrum to replace injured captain Tom Pearson on the left wing and scored a hat-trick! J. E. C. Partridge also proved to be a great player.
Back R. B. Griffiths played in 28 matches and George Boots and J. Jenkins in 26. Willie Thomas scored 12t, Willie Llewellyn 10t and Harry Uzzell 6t.
