Tom Graham led Newport for the 4th consecutive time in 1892-93 - a season with only 3 defeats. Newport were unbeaten until 11th February 1893 and then lost at Cardiff by 2pts. On 18th March 1893 they lost again to Cardiff by 2 pts and again it was a missed place kick. At Oldham they lost 5 v 8. F. W. Cooper was a new back who later was an even time English sprint champion and Harry Packer returned from injury.

During the season Newport won 19 consecutive matches. At the time Newport and Cardiff were regarded as the two greatest club sides.

Only 27 players were needed and 4 of these - including H. Creighton, Captain of Thirds - only played 1 match.

Appearances were led by Tom Pook (29), Bert Gould (29), Arthur Boucher (28), Jim Hannan (28), Tom Graham (28) and Bert Dauncey (28). Arthur Gould set a try scoring record which still stands to this day by scoring 37 tries (also 4dg) from just 24 matches. Brother Bert weighed in with 18 as did Bert Dauncey.
